Tram Crash Tragedy on the Cobbles Updated
Coronation Street bosses wanted a new cast and to bring the street up to the 21st Century, and what better way to do it than to destroy the Street and kill off some of the much loved characters in the process. Coronation Streets 50th anniversary episode is set to be explosive quite literally when a Gas explosion in the Joinery Bar causes the bridge to collapse and a tram to crash of the viaduct on to the cobbles below. The tram crashes down into the corner shop and the Kabin resulting in at least three favourite cast members loosing their lives. Just before the explosion Peter Barlow along with all his nearest and dearest are enjoying his stag night in the Joinery Bar but unbeknown to Peter, Nick Tilsley is about to try and scupper the wedding by revealing his affair with Leanne. Nick and Peter are in the office at the bar, but as Nick is about to confess Ashley comes in to say goodnight, and the explosion rocks the bar leaving Ashley, Peter and Nick all unconscious and trapped beneath the rubble, but will they live or die? Meanwhile Ken Barlow who has seen Nick summoning Peter to his office and fully aware of the affair between Nick and his soon to be daughter in law Leanne so he rushes of to find Leanne and warn her what is about to happen, but as Ken and Leanne are making a mad rush back over to the bar to stop Nick confessing all to Peter, the explosion hits and they find themselves thrown to the ground back out into the street. Over at the Rovers a panicked Becky McDonald realises little Max has gone missing and is frantically searching the street for him when the explosion hits, will Becky find Max before it is to late? Elsewhere on the street Molly has just told a heartbroken Tyronne that she had an affair and baby Jack is not his son. Molly and baby Jack are seen leaving the house and stopping by the corner shop to speak to Sunita just before the tram crashes,after the initial explosion a shaken Molly manages to get herself and Baby Jack to the shop door but just as she goes to open it you hear a loud screeching sound as the Tram spirals of the viaduct and crashes into the cobbles below. Also to be hit by the tram was The Kabin which leaves Rita buried amongst the rubble fighting for her life, and a seriously injured Fiz laying on the cobbles outside. As we know the show producers promised us a murder and when a deranged Charlotte turns up at John and Fiz's house the night of the crash, she tells John to leave Fiz or she will tell everything, John tells her that he has no intention of leaving Fiz which makes obsessed Charlotte grabs a hammer and starts wildly swinging it at a unsuspecting John, a fight ensues and when John manages to grab the knife from her it is him that ends up raising the hammer and smashing Charlotte over the head with it, but where will he hide the dying Charlotte? Where ever it is she is soon found and later dies from her head injury, but will she reveal the truth about Colin before John turns her life support machine off??
The aftermath of the crash is like something out of a war film, with survivors desperately digging through the rubble in order to locate their loved ones but who will be alive and who has sadly died? The residents begin removing rubble from the corner shop as they discover that Baby Jack and Molly were inside just before the crash, as Becky is searching for Steve and little Max she hears Sunita crying and quickly shouts for the others to help dig her out, but Dev and Cieran struggle to free her. The search soon becomes more frantic when the residents hear baby Jack crying next to his unconscious mum Molly. Meanwhile the local Doctor turns the rovers return into a mini hospital and tends to the injured with the help of Janice Battersby and Gail Platt.
As if the crash wasn't enough a fire breaks out across the street threatening the lives of Claire Peacock and her two children plus little Simon and Russ, but when Lloyd kicks down the door to get Claire and the children out he is thrown back out into the street, Leaving Jason Grimshaw to try and save them all from the flames. Jason manages to save little Simon, but what about the others? Outside the Kabin an injured Fiz begins to get stomach pains and as the ambulance arrives the Doctor confirms Fiz is in labour, but at only 24 weeks pregnant they need to get her into hospital before both she and her baby die. she later gives birth to baby Hope, but this will not be the end of Fiz's troubles. Back in the street will anybody hear Rita's weak cries for help before it is to late?
Over at the Joinery Nick and Ashley have managed to free themselves but Peter is still trapped, can the lads free him in time before the roof of the joinery collapses on them all? Rumours are that Ashley will choke to death in the rubble when the roof crashes down on him.
Which Man makes a dying wish? With Coronation Street promising a wedding in the week of tragedy, could Peter wish to marry Leanne before he dies making her Simons legal guardian??
It has been revealed that in the hour long live episode, Sally Webster will risk her life to save Molly. Sally has become very close to Molly of late and knows that baby Jack needs his Mum, but it has been revealed that Sally will be told unexpected and shocking news while risking her life for Molly, I'm betting Molly reveals the truth about her affair with Kevin. Perhaps the young Mum knows she is going to die and asks Sally to look after Baby Jack along with his real father....Sally's husband!!
An Oscar winning visual effects company that also worked on film 'Gladiator' and 'Doctor Who' will be working on this massive stunt which will be rehearsed by the cast this week, Coronation Street's new producer Phill Collinson used to Produce with David Tennant known mostly for his role as Dr Who, and the same company used for Dr Who will be using dramatic CGI for the tram crash disaster scenes, costing the show a hefty £1 million making this the most expensive stunt in soap history. The first episode will be screened on Monday 6th December at 7.30pm and then at 8.30pm we will see the tram hit the cobbles. The drama then continues on Tuesday night at 8.30pm and again on the 8th December at 7pm. The special hour long live episode will begin at 8pm on the 9th December. and then again on Friday 10th December at both 7.30pm and 8.30pm. Not to be missed!!!
It is not yet known who will die in the fateful scenes, but we do know that Ken Barlow, Claire and Ashley Peacock, Molly Dobbs and Liz Mcdonald are all leaving this year, but how do they all exit? It has been revealed that Molly and baby Jack are both in the corner shop when the tram crashes into the cobbles, will this spell yet more heartbreak for Tyronne? Also at risk are Leanne Battersby, Peter Barlow, Rita Sullivan, and Sunita. Producers say the Drama will continue into 2011, as the residents come to terms with the tragedy and the dramatic twists and turns that follow.
Coronation Street Producer has promised that the episodes will feature so much more than just the Tram Crash, with many story lines reaching a climax or characters being sent of in different directions as the Tram hits the cobbles. He says "I can Promise a week of television that people will remember forever."
Executive Producer Kevin Roberts said there are more deaths to come on the street including a Murder he said someone will be killed at the hands of another and there will be at least three other deaths they are all people who are very well known characters and characters who the viewers care passionately about. He said These are all big stories and there is going to be a Baby in the middle of it all it will be just like the classified pages Birth, Deaths and Marriages.

It was revealed in the news today that Corries live episode tonight will be a target for a terrorist attack, all cast and crew members will be subject to full body searches before entering the set and Anti Terror Police have sent in extra officers to guard the set as well as the Corrie security that has also been stepped up for tonight's episode.
However Greater Manchester Police have denied this claim and said "Quite simply, Granada approached GMP to inform us they were employing a private security firm to help ensure tonight's live programme went ahead without outside interference." "As part of their operation they asked for police assistance and we agreed to deploy a very small number of officers and PCSO's to help patrol the Set's perimeter fence. This small police operation will be paid for by Granada and will not cost taxpayers an extra penny. To reiterate, there is no specific intelligence threat to Coronation Street or any such event. However, the UK threat level remains at severe and people are encouraged to be vigilant."
Cant say i am surprised by the false story, after all it was 'The Sun Newspaper' that wrote the story.
Tonight's episode will show poor Rita still crying out for help, but will anyone hear her? Sally will risk her life for Molly only to discover that she has had an affair with Kevin. Claire will be told of Ashley's death, but is set to get another shock when she switches her phone on in the Rovers and the packed pub hears Ashley's voice saying how much he loves Claire and his two little boys, and cant wait to move to France with them. This of course was the message Ashley left her just before he died.
Meanwhile Gary Windass is reliving his time in Afghanistan, and the stress of it all becomes to much next week when he lashes out and hits his Mum Anna.
Becky McDonald is desperate to pay her sister Kylie off so her and Steve can live happily ever after with little Max, but Becky soon finds herself going back to her dodgy ways when she discovers the till in the corner shop wreckage is still intact and decides to empty the contents........into her buy a baby fund! Becky then arranges to meet her sister and hands over the stolen loot, but things don't quite go to plan when she is later told by Dev that the CCTV camera in the shop survived the crash, Steve can tell by Becky's worried face that she was the one who stole the money and he threatens to phone the police on his selfish wife, he later tells her he wont phone the police but he wants her to pack her bags and get out.
Next week we will see a marriage break down, and i am guessing it is Kevin and Sally's. Confessions and revelations come out at a funeral. two residents decide to pack up and leave the street, and one family learns that their child needs a life changing blood transfusion. Tyrone finally discovers the truth about Molly and Kevin next week but what will happen with Baby Jack? Also the locals are in need of answers and when Nick discovers the gas problem at The Joinery caused the explosion, he is feeling even more guilty, does he have something to hide?
John Stape passes Charlotte off as a tram victim only to discover she is still alive, however while she is in hospital fighting for her life, Killer John sneaks in and turns her life support machine, but his killing spree doesn't stop there!!!

Yes i think Grahame could be the shock death because he is above the Kabin when the tram hits, and Claire could also die in the house fire. I hope Rita doesn't die but its possible as no one hears her week crys for help. @ G dog, where did you get your inside info? because Becky doesnt die she actualy ends up stealing money from the wreckage to pay off her sister for little Max, and also she has a big story line coming up regarding Tracey Barlow over christmas and new year. Also Chesney has just renewed his contract with Corrie so he wont be dying unless it is in a years time lol. And as for Gail she is helping the doctor care for the injured in the rovers pub after the tram crash. I thought the episode was great tonight, Well Done Corrie :)

I'm not sure yet, but there can only be 4 deaths, (Hense 4 funerals) So there are alot of people now that have to survive, If you counting people in the train, then none of the people in the street could die, but it wont work like that. So, so far the following people have been injured: Molly, Charlotte-(The on John hit with hammer), Ashley, Nick, Peter?, Molly, Baby Jack, Rita, And I didnt know this but apprently Fiz too.
And these people have not been revealed yet, (or as far as I know): Simon, Asley&Claires' boys, Max, Becky?, Graham.
I also think their are some waiters/waitress's left in 'The Joinery' too.
Those in the pub, I think most of them are safe.
Through out the choices, My guess is that: Molly, Charlotte, Baby Jack, Ashley.
Though, Ashley is meant to be Leaving Corination Street, he is meant to be Moving to France with Claire and their boys, so that could be how he leaves, by simply moving like plannned. :)
Hellooooo' i think Molly and Ashley will die but KYM- Fiz doesn't die because she gives birth to a baby girl which she calls Hope. The tram crash looked so real and dramatised, i was really shocked when i saw it although i did know it was going to happen! I really do hope that Nick dies because i think that Leanne and Peter are great together and Simon doesn't die in the fire because Jason rescues him. It has already been confirmed that Baby Jack doesnt die, and Nick doesnt die but does get accused of causing the whole explosion and tram crash as he didnt have the gas problem in The Joinery sorted out.

i love corantion street and hope that the charceters that have been in corrie for ages shoulod stay in because i think its amazing how corrie has been going for 5o years. so big clap for all the great scenes that have been made in all the horror scenes.know that tram crash is great how they showed all the fire but acctually its not a real fire.its a controlled gas fire what you do is press a button to start the fire and a buuton to stop but it isnt reall it just looks like it is.no charecters get hurt so thats good but i think corries best yet event is the tram crash do you agree?. i think that the people who are going to die are peter rita nick and ashly but i aint shaw.i love all the charecters in corrie i think they are all ase people.and all the actors have to go in to do there jobs at night when we are in bed . all corries are unique in there own way so big clap to all the cast.xxx im big fans of u all ur my role models xxx

Meh, I don't know what all the excitement is about...sure Corrie is great but this tram crash is only an excuse to kill off some chaacters who haven't even been in the show that much lately. If a major character was being killed off then yes this would be great but let's face it who's going to be devastated by the loss of Molly(who was leaving anyway), Ashley(who was leaving anyway), Sunita(how many times has she been in it lately?). If Rita goes, yes she'll be missed but isn't it like she's gone already? And Charlotte, hasn't that storyline gone on waaaay to long already.
I'm disappointed at the big build up of this episode because at the end of it all we're going to have to sit through a few funerals of characters we weren't that interested in anyway.

Hey! I think Sunitta will die (sadly) Molly will die (very sadly) and Asheley will also die. The lovely street will be changed forever! Poor baby Jack might not have a mummy if the lovely Molly passes away. Love all our Corrie characters, but the street will definetly change. i think molly, charlotte, ashely and max might die. really i don't want anyone 2 die but i know 4 are. i hope rita doesn't i think shes really sweet, kind and down to earth. she is one of my fav's and i wished someone could go and save here they all expect her in town but for god sake someone check. im only 11 and i was scared watching it monday, it looked so real.
So peter dies? Oh god poor simon. Sally is a very lovely woman for standing by molly when she needs her most. (L)

That was so sad when Peter and Leanne got married while Peter was on his death bed, really emotional scenes. Well done to all the cast of Corrie, i actualy forgot it was live because the acting and scenes were so brilliantly done :)

1. Charlotte dies after John murdered her then at hospital they had to let her go. By unplugging the machine that kept her alive.
2. Molly dies of blood lose
3. Ashley dies when the building type thing collapsed on him.
4. Peter dies by his terrible injuries and internal bleeding

I think that it is sad that molly has died but she need to because of all the trouble she has corsed. I don't think that ashley need to die because he was a loving husband and also a wonderful dad to both of his children. I started crying when peter barlow was marring leanne in the hospital, i love peter so much he is a loving husband know and a loving dad that really cared for simon and leanne.

@Amy, do you live in Canada? Nick Tilsley opens up a bar called 'The Joinery' and it has a gas explosion, causing the tram above to crash onto the street. Molly Dobbs and Ashley Peacock both die :(

HI i love corrie alot and i hink this is fab news big story lines i'll not move and all who will go will be missed as they've been in along time and well loved also jack and vera who everyone who loved alot will be missed loved jacks last scene
