It is that time of year again where viewers got to vote for their favourite soap actor, actress and best soap of 2011 among others. The awards were held at Coronation Street's Granada Studio. All the soap women were glamed up for the red carpet, there was some stunning fashion choices as well as fashion disasters but a good time seemed to be had by all. Coronation Street won an impressive nine awards out of 16, while Eastenders picked up four awards, leaving both Emmerdale and Holloaks with two each. Sexiest Male- Scott Maslen who plays Jack Branning in Eastenders has set a new soap record and won the award for sexiest male for the third year in a row.

Sexiest Female- Michelle Keegan who plays Tina Mcintyre in Coronation Street won the award for sexiest female for the third year in a row and look stunning in a gold full length gown. Tamzin Outhwaite and Jesse Wallace have also won this award three years in a row, will Michelle set a new record next year?

Villain of the year- Emmet. J. Scanlan who plays Brendan Bradey in Hollyoaks won the award for Villain of the year, and with his scary eyes and psychotic episodes i think he deserved it most.

Best Actor- Danny Miller who plays Aaron Livesy won the award for best actor. Aaron has shown a different side to him in Emmerdale after standing by his disabled boyfriend Jackson and helping to care for him.

Best Actress- Jesse Wallace who plays Kat Slater in Eastenders won the award for best actress and after the baby swap storyline she deserves it, although i am surprised Samantha Womack who plays Ronnie Branning didn't receive an award the amount her character has been put through since she stepped onto the square, both actresses are a credit to Eastenders.

Best Young Actor- Alexander Bain who plays Simon Barlow in Coronation Street won the award for best young actor. He is so adorable.

Best Performance- Jane Danson who plays Leanne Barlow in Coronation street won the award for best dramatic performance. Leanne married Peter Barlow as he lay fighting for his life in hospital following the horrific Tram crash.

Best on screen partnership- Jesse Wallace and Shane Richie who play Kat and Alfie Moon in Eastenders won the award for best on screen partnership. The popular lovable couple were missed when they left Eastenders and Eastenders fans were literally over the moon to see them back on our screens.

Best Newcomer- Emmet. J. Scanlan who plays Brendan Bradey in Hollyoaks won the award for Best Newcomer as well as his award for best villain, not bad for his first year in soap.

Best Comedy- Patti Clare who plays Scary Mary Taylor in Coronation Street won the award for best comedy character.

Lifetime Achievement- Bill Tarmey who played Jack Duckworth in Coronation Street won the lifetime achievement award. Bill first appeared in Corrie in 1979 then reappeared in 1983, he married Vera Duckworth making them one of the most popular and humorous couples in British soap. Jack left the soap in 2010 in emotional scenes that saw him dancing with his late wife Vera before he passed away in his sleep. Bill couldn't be there to collect his award due to ill health.

Best Storyline- End of the line for the Websters and the Dobbs family in Coronation Street won the award for best storyline. Who can forget the fateful day when Sally webster held a dying Molly's hand as she breathed her last words.......Kevin is Baby Jacks Dad.

Best Exit- Bill Tarmey who played Jack Duckworth in Coronation Street won the award for best exit. Viewers saw the much loved character pass away in his sleep after dancing with the vision of deceased wife Vera to their favourite song.

Special Achievement- The late Gavin Blyth got a posthumous special achievement award for his work on Emmerdale. Actor Danny Miller who plays Aaron Livesy in the popular soap gave a tearful tribute to the late Emmerdale producer who sadly lost his fight against Cancer aged just 41. The audience all got to their feet to applaud the work and the life of Gavin Blyth.

Spectacular Scene- The award for most spectacular scene went to Coronation Street for The Tram Crash Disaster, this was the most explosive and expensive stunt in soap history, and the devestation caused the deaths of some much loved characters. This was a very deserving win for Corrie.

Best Single Episode- Coronation Street won the award for best single episode for their Live 50th Anniversary special. The actors did an amazing job acting out the Tram Crash devastation on live television.

Best British Soap- The Best British soap of 2011 was awarded to Eastenders and after the contreversy surrounding the baby swap i am sure the actors were pleased to know that they were still the viewers choice. This is the fourth year in a row that Eastenders have won best soap, giving them a total of nine best soap wins since the soap awards started in 1999.
